Robert Abreu, Board Member

Robert Abreu is a Vice-President at Goldman Sachs within the Technology Risk Group where his primary duties focus on Insider Threat, Cybersecurity and Investigations. In past roles within the Technology division, he has focused on eDiscovery and Project Management. Mr. Abreu has also held positions at Goldman Sachs in the Human Capital Management division, where his primary duties centered on driving diversity-focused initiatives. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1997, Mr. Abreu held positions at Den Danske Bank, National Bank of Canada, MetroBank, Valley Savings Bank, and American Express Bank.

Mr. Abreu is an active member of the community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities of NY Community Services and Alianza Dominicana. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Federation. He also sat on as number of advisory boards including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Latino Advisory Committee, the Hope Program, the Junior Achievement Program Hispanic Initiative, St. Elizabeth School, and Murry Bergtraum High School. He also supports a number of educational and artistic organizations in the US, as well as the Dominican Republic. He is also a frequent, and guest speaker at conferences and schools.

As an engaged member of the professional community, he has served as President of Dominicans on Wall Street (DOWS), and the President for Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA). He is a member of a number of organizations, including the Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting (ALPFA).

Robert has most recently been recognized by the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanic Professionals in Information Technology. He has also received other honors and awards including being selected as one of the 200 Most Influential Hispanics in Technology by Hispanic Engineer Magazine, 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine, 100 Accomplished Dominicans Outside of the Dominican Republic by the Office of the President of the Dominican Republic, Latino Trendsetter by Latin Trends Magazine and the Latino Achiever Award from ASPIRA.

Robert was born and raised in the Washington Heights section of Upper Manhattan in New York City. His parents were both immigrants from the Dominican Republic. He currently resides in Bergen County, northern New Jersey with his wife Arelis and their five children – Vincent, Kristyn, Alycia, Emily, and Tiffany. Robert received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from St. Peter’s College.
