About Us

Dominicans In Tech (DIT), a non-profit organization registered as a 501(c)(3) Foundation, is dedicated to empowering Dominicans abroad associated with the information technology industry. Our mission is to foster leadership, education, and innovation among Dominicans around the globe, to enable them to excel in the ever-evolving world of technology.

Through strategic partnerships, DIT collaborates with like-minded organizations, educational institutions, and industry leaders to create opportunities and provide resources for Dominicans in tech. We offer educational support, including scholarships, mentorship programs, and networking events, to help Dominicans pursue higher education and advance their careers in technology.

One of DIT's key initiatives is the promotion of educational and scientific programs in the Dominican Republic and all around the world where needed. We work to bridge the talent gap by facilitating the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practices. DIT organizes workshops, conferences, and hackathons to encourage innovation, creativity, and problem-solving among Dominicans in tech.

DIT also focuses on building a strong community of Dominicans in tech. We host regular events, both online and offline, to foster networking, collaboration, and support among members. These events provide opportunities for Dominicans in tech to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Moreover, DIT advocates for diversity and inclusion in the technology industry. We work to address the under-representation of Dominicans and other minorities in tech by raising awareness, promoting mentorship, and supporting initiatives that aim to increase diversity in the workforce.

By empowering Dominicans within the technology industry, DIT is contributing to the overall growth and success of the tech ecosystem around the world and economic development for their members and our home country. Our efforts are helping to create a more diverse and inclusive environment, where Dominicans can thrive and make significant contributions to the advancement of technology.

Our History

The Dominicans in Tech Foundation is an evolution of the Dominicans in Tech Podcast, an initiative of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipyme (MICM) of the Dominican Republic. This initiative was aligned with the presidential goal of President Luis Abinader in 2020 aimed to connect with the Dominican diaspora by telling stories of Dominican professionals who are creating a high impact in the technology sector around the world. The podcast started in 2022 and its co-hosts are: Jonathan Bournigal Read , Michelle Aybar (Girls In Tech República Dominicana) y Dion Baez (from YouTube).

Our mission is to foster a supportive network for Dominican tech professionals while inspiring young Dominican individuals to pursue careers in the industry.

“Technology and education have the power to transform people into lifelong learners and change their lives forever.”

— Claritza N. Abreu, Founder of Dominicans In Tech
