Claritza N. Abreu, BSCSE, MSCIS, Board Chair

An avid technology evangelist, well-respected community leader, and highly regarded mentor, currently holds the position of Head of the Customer Engineer/Technical Team for the Northeast Region at the prestigious high-technology company, Google Cloud.

Claritza has held various executive positions in prestigious organizations in the Greater Boston region, demonstrating her leadership abilities and actively leading significant and transformational initiatives.

She previously served as Vice President of Technology Risk Management at State Street Corporation; Director of Information Technology at the Federal Reserve Bank; Chief Information Officer at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health; and Director of Information Technology for the Boston Public Health Commission. Additionally, Claritza served as an Adjunct Senior Faculty and Program Manager of Information Technology at Cambridge College and Boston University for more than a decade.

Passionate about community service, Claritza supports public health research, STEM education, mentorship, and social causes.

She currently holds board member positions at the Mass General Brigham Health Plan Board of Directors and was appointed by the president of the Dominican Republic to the Punta Bergantin Innovation Hub Board of Directors.

In the past, she has served on several boards, including as Chair of the Board of the Institute of Community Health of the Cambridge Health Alliance; and the Town Randolph Board; she served as the Secretary and Chair of the Randolph Democratic Town Committee among many other organizations.

Her inspiring immigrant story has been featured in national media outlets such as NPR, the Library of Congress, Latina Style Magazine, WGBH, and The WorldChannel. Ms. Abreu has been distinguished with numerous prestigious awards, among them: the "Women to Watch" from Mass High Tech Magazine; 100 Most Influential Hispanics in Massachusetts; the "Excellence in Technology Award" by the Governor of Massachusetts; the "Distinguished Alumni Award" from both of her alma maters, the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC) and Boston University; The prestigious "Oscar de La Renta '' leadership abroad award by the President of the Dominican Republic.

Her portrait was displayed for years at the Prudentail Top of Hub’s "Dreams of Freedom" Immigrant Museum in the city of Boston, symbolizing her achievements as a successful Dominican immigrant in the city of Boston.

Claritza holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC), a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University (BU), and additional postgraduate certifications from New York University (NYU), West Virginia University, and Suffolk University respectively.

She lives in the Greater Boston area surrounded by her large family. She enjoys traveling, meeting new people, martial arts, dancing and hiking.
